Lawrence got his first pro-level 35mm camera in 1965. The photography teacher at Tucson high school offered him a 3-week crash course, and Lawrence used the time to experiment with a range of cameras and was soon shooting, developing, and printing like a pro. Bolex. Hasselblad. Nikon. Leica. Minolta. Graphlex.

A year later, at Northern Arizona University, he was tapped to photograph candidates for Snow Queen, and those photos were instrumental in his becoming editor and lead photographer of the NAU yearbook and the official photographer for the NAU Marching Band until he received his BFA in 1969..

In the years since he migrated from film to digital, owning the first digital camera developed as a consumer product, During the past decade, he has dipped his toes into staging, shooting, and editing video. Though far from professional, Lawrence approaches photography with a painter’s eye, which makes him the ideal standby photographer for Cinnabar Design.
